ICE in Schools

The federal administration has made a change to a policy established in 2011 that prohibited ICE from conducting enforcement actions in sensitive locations. The U.S. Constitution guarantees a FREE public education to every child, regardless of immigration status, but the new administration policy gives ICE agents access to target children in schools.

Undocumented and mixed status families now have to decide between safety and education, with reported attendance drops among students. This directly impacts learning outcomes, student/community mental health, and long-term life outcomes.

Swipe through to learn what this means for schools, what impact it’s had so far, how to keep your family and community safe, and what you can do protect your communities.
