We made it to the end of semester! 🥳 We celebrated it with our amazing colleagues out in Texas ✨ @diary_of_alyssa_bx and @herrera_cinthia5 ✨ who shared their unique stories and experiences in their doctoral journeys!
Together, we continue to find the links in common across our experiences and career pursuits and the understanding that many issues are not discipline specific. They are systemic. Understanding the importance of community is one of our greatest common values. Gracias, Cinthia y Alyssa! 🫶🏽
📚Fall 2024: We got through such an exciting semester in the BABEL lab with many new projects launching successfully - thanks to all of these amazing research assistants (missing two here!) 🤩
PUENTE has been such a powerful program to bridge the discipline and public knowledge divide in our communities with high school students. VAMOSS is a first of many things in normalizing and expecting second language skills in our professions. Diversity in SLP has validated, taught, and brought in the stories of resilience in the SLP community of practicing and coming to be professionals of color. Bilingualism in the borderlands is wrapping up and has been a transformative experience for the directions of the research in the lab, and in elevating and representing the unique communities and their cultural-linguistic wealth along the US/Mexico border.
This BABEL Lab team (and a couple of new members) will be returning in the spring, with many new ideas and goals to accomplish! ✨
If you have any requests for the spring, drop em in the comments below or dm us - our team is eager to help!
¡Felices fiestas! 🎄
