ASHA Office of Multicultural Affairs Funding for Mi PUENTE

Es un feliz viernes, nuestra gente! 🪅 We are beyond thankful to the @ashaweb Office of Multicultural Affairs and the selection committee for supporting this new and sorely needed endeavor. In the upcoming school year, we will be extending PUENTE to begin Mi PUENTE for our local Southern Arizona borderlands middle schoolers!

This week has been a painful reminder of how much work remains to build communities where every person in our community feels safe, valued, and like they belong. While this award notice cannot diminish our collective grief over the current climate, it does strengthen our commitment to the work ahead. We know that change begins early. When young people learn that differences are a normal and valuable part of who we are, they help shape more compassionate communities and futures. As one recent PUENTE graduate beautifully shared and requested of the team, “Never stop teaching people that it’s okay to not be like everyone else.” We certainly will not.
