As we celebrate International Children’s Books Day, it is important to acknowledge the vast variety of books that support early literacy and learning! 📚
In this case, we are acknowledging the books that make children feel seen through language, culture, emotional, and cognitive development. When we see a connection to our experiences in books, we are more motivated to succeed and actually read! 💡
Every child deserves access to books that highlight the variety of ways humans experience the world in their languages, communities, and cultures. Representation matters in early literacy and lifelong learning! 🎓✏️
Big shout out to our stellar BABEL Lab undergraduate researchers @marianna.g.martinez and Kat Coppes for their excellent work! 🤩👏🏽🪅
Stay tuned for more being bilingual, bicultural, and biliterate as we continue the celebrations this month! 🥳
