Hooray 🥳 Today, two of our first year undergraduate research assistants @minhcraft_ and @marianna.g.martinez had the wonderful opportunity to share information about language facilitation to high school parent-students in our community! ✨
Minh Thu and Marianna shared their language stories and the importance of protecting our home languages. Of course bilingualism is an incredible asset! It doesn’t cause confusion, delays, or disabilities and the parent-students we connected with today had already heard many of these myths. To that we said ❌NOT TRUE! ❌
We shared resources and BABEL lab developed infographics that give more information about these myths and how to support bilingual development.
Dr. Arizmendi and Dr. Oglivie also practiced language facilitation strategies with some of the students and shared the power of modeling, expanding, and putting meaning behind experiences with language! 🤩
All in a BABEL days work 🫶🏽
