On Tuesday, Dr. Arizmendi was invited to be a guest speaker for Career Day at Los Ninos Elementary School! 📚🍎 She got a chance to meet over 100 kids from kindergarten to 5th grade and taught them about what a (bilingual!!) speech-language pathologist does!
If you’re like us, we didn’t know about this career until college 😫 It was SO exciting to see two of our high school PUENTE students also present to share about their plans at the Career Day event!!!! One of them will be majoring in speech, language, and hearing sciences when she begins school at the U of A in August!!! 🗣️✨
This is our own way of bridging our PUENTE program across all ages, backgrounds, and identities to recruit into the professions. How can we possibly aspire to be something when we don’t know about it? Our diversity in speech language pathology study also shows us how many students got lucky to find out about the profession. What about those that never have the ‘luck’? This is how we are actively going about being the change we want to see. ✊🏽
